Some History :
Lou Castellas was the first name given to the property when it was built
during the XIIIth Century.
At this time, the fief of Château l'Arc was the fortress looking after Fuveau's
citizens.
Partly destroyed in the end of the XIVth Century by Duguesclin's troops, the castle
was rebuilt 300 metres higher than its original place. The fortress lost its qualification
and became a country house in the beginning of the XVIIth Century.
Charles de Boutassy, Lord of Fuveau and chief treasure of France, was entitled
Marquis of Château l'Arc by Louis XIVth.
After the French Revolution, the property spread through more than 6000 hectares
of land.
Unfortunately, it suffered many losses, in land as well as in furniture. Thanks
to Antoine de Jessi, Château l'Arc remains an exceptional site from where
you can admire the Sainte-Victoire Mountain, like the famous painters Paul
Cézanne or Bernard Buffet (one of the former owners of the Château).
